i was forced to get on welfare after my exhusband left me and my 3 children. walmart came to my town and gave not only me, but most of the single mothers in my apartment complex jobs at double the minimum wage. what are you guys talking about? you just want the publicity for fame/lack there of.
No word from Melissa as to whether she's still on welfare or not.
Responsible For Pet Suffering, Death
I am new to this site. What can you tell me about Wmart's legal responsibility for the recalled product that has their name on it? My dog was poisoned by Ol' Roy. Wmart denies all responsibility for the food, but other companies like Iams and Nutro who used the same manufacturer (Menu Foods) have stepped up and settled damages to their customers even tho Menu is hiding under the desk. Why can the rake in the profits from Ol' Roy and Special Kitty, but not suffer the loss for the damage it has done. My cat is dead and my dog NEEDS the money I have lost from damages for her future care. Do you have any info for me.
... Thank you so much for your response. I have retained an attorney. I'm not sure if he is doing much. He offered to take my case because it did involve WalMart. According to him, Wmart is absolutely responsible. I have tried to join a class action, but many that claimed to be starting one never followed through. I have saved everything.... food, sales slips, recall print outs, vet bills, newspaper articles. I am ready for battle. I just think it stinks that they can't just step up and do the right thing. It's not like an alleged "slip and fall". The proof is concrete. Thanks again Perspective
there are a number of things i would love to comment on from your site but this time ill bite my tounge. mainly i wrote to draw notice to the point everyone keeps bringing up: walmart come s in and brings jobs. great, fine, lots of cashiering and stocking jobs for people. i used to work for walmart, and i never had an issue with the company. i always got my 40 hours and was treated well. these things might help a community, but what happens when, in the next town over, where they manufacture american made products get closed because all the new shiny over-employing walmarts only buy products from china and taiwan. now, as a whole, we have lost some few hundered well paying jobs for some part-time walmart stock job. this just increases other countries economic hold over us as a country. if we all supported our local grocers and businesses they would have the budget to hire the part-timers too. yes i know we would lack the hiring power to hire all those that walmart would employ but whats better, a ciountry that can stand on its own, or hiring a feww hundred people who can only work three or four hours a day four days a week? think about it people.
The Anti-Wal-Mart Cult
![]() Selling Women Short: The Landmark Battle for Worker's Rights at Wal-Mart (book)
From the shoes/pants/shirts you wear, the style of your hair, the condition of your skin, and the manner of things such as your laugh (and writing style), I can tell that you're along the lines of a "cult" fan. You love Kevin Smith (reference to Clerks in P&T, NICE!), and most likely anything that wouldn't interest the "norm", but has a more than compelling interest to a small group of people, who follow it almost religiously. I'm not making any of this up, this is honestly what I see. The norm enjoys Wal-Mart, and you, being one of these people, don't (for whichever reason, you pick). You're different than most, because you've taken the extra step. And yes, people have rallied with you. But only those "cult" driven. Notice the whole nation isn't standing up to stop Wal-Mart, and they won't. The majority of the people in the US LOVE Wal-Mart. Maybe it's just exciting for you to be the leader of the minority, being the smaller group, still a group none-the-less. Got to catch a plane! Write back! :) XOXO Kev Thanks for the hugs and kisses, Kev. Ah, no we are not leading any charges here. Merely recognizing them.
Trained To Be Fired
Hello, I also dreaded when Walmart came to my town in Cicero, NY. But, when I was offered a job there , I took it, and only because I was offered more hours and better pay then myprevious job at Arby's. The first day I got on the job, I knew it was going to be tough and I wouldn't like it. But, at the time I needed money ASAP. And I was making $300 every other week. If anyone doesn't know, Walmart's "training" for their employees isn't really hands on training. It's on a computer and called CBL's (or Computer Based Learning). When I got all of my CBL's done, I got to go work out on the floor finally. I worked in the Deli. It was tough. Having to slice the meat just right, weighing, scaling and wrapping after every time you use it and having to clean the slicer mor times then I can remember. Well, I don't want to turn this into a book, I just think it's BS that I was there only three weeks, still getting trained mind you, and they fire me because I was "wasting company time". Well, I am now VERY anti-Walmart. I have gotten my parents to stop shopping there and start shopping at Wegman's.
Not America's Finest
First off, to the makers of this site, I'd like to convey my deepest apologies for ripping your asshole as wide as your girth.(if you aren't too witty, that means the two t-shirt salesmen that made this site are fat.) and before i go any further with my favorite form of entertainment, let me say, i read your rebuttal, if thats what you so desperately want to call the list of excuses you made for being stupid. i have in my life, seen a dog speak, watched a snake fly, watched a fish walk on dry land, and seen an elephant do dog tricks. but i have never, ever seen anything so blatantly idiotic as 2 overweight, under-educated, hate-mongering conspiracy-driven, dungeons & dragons loving, supposedly heterosexual people invest so much into something so obviously foolish. i am a soldier, set to deploy this coming year, and i by no means, am wealthy. as a matter of fact, if you look at current military pay vs. cost of living. im in poverty. but ive been raised to believe in 2 principals. 1: things should be done right the first time. 2: Survival is key. Now, im absolutely sure that you can understand the first one. but judging by your hatred of walmart and everything it supports, the second one may have shot a little high over those huge brains of yours. Wal*Mart, McDonalds, Burger King, JC Penny, Target, K-Mart, and every other superstore in existance, exists because it fought its way tooth and nail through year after year of sales and marketing. Wal-Mart is the largest retail store because it became stronger than all the others, and last i checked, that is generally the goal of a business. you say walmart destroys small towns, but in reality, the fact that your town has a walmart is a sign of economic growth, meaning your town isnt really small anymore. i believe you when you say that walmart destroys business for mom and pop stores. and there is no conspiracy, thats their goal. its a business, so maybe before you go stand in a parking lot flipping walmart off, maybe you should stand in front of a military post and flip them off instead, since we are the ones who keep this country free, thereby giving companies like walmart the chance to prosper. but make sure you duck behind something metal or concrete because if some overweight t-shirt sporting couple who isnt together (and im deeply sorry for not getting to the fact that one of you is gay and one of you is lesbian and i cant tell which is which) were to flip me off when im on a 24 hour gaurd duty because theyre too pathetic to join the service, i might be obliged to throw something at you.
... hold the phone nancy. first of all, you got blasted because you were portrayed as bufoons. and rightfully so. second of all. the army pays me fine for my services being that my family is well compensated for my pay level. now, my apologies for not shedding a tear over a marine who got corn-holed by walmart. let me say this. in his boots, im quite certain any other soldier who would be told to keep their military career a secret, myself at the top of this list, would probably have ended that conversation with a fist fight, because last i checked, killing people as an occupation outranks stocking shelves and licking a manager's ball-sack by about ten-fold. i could be wrong, but not likely. anyways, to my rebuttal. you misconstrued my article. i do no support walmart workers, because they are people. and people as a general rule, are dicks. so, in truth, every grievance against walmart can in truth be traced down to its workers, because like anyone who has ever had a job knows, some bosses rock, some bosses suck cock... this true in walmart too. Yikes!
Heartless Sons of Bitches
First off, I would like to thank you for listening to what I have to say. Now that I have your attention, I would like to say fuck you. Not liking something is one thing, but making a website of this size is fucking ridiculous. Just because I may not like code the black cherry/vanilla Dr. Pepper does not mean I need the urge to say something to people who don't care about you. I don't make a website about how much I hate Taco Bell over a local resturant. You are not wooing over anybody by having this site. It is merely a joke to everyone and having it on a show such as Penn & Teller makes you even more ignorant. You two need to take a look at what you are doing and trying to kill jobs for Americans. Not everyone is born with great things, or even as smart as some of us. You two heartless sons of bitches need to man up and just shut the fuck up.
Store #5093 One Year Later
The management "team" that caused so much grief and despair towards the non-ass kissers are gone now. ( The former store manager for pillaging the cash office, two ass. managers left when their wives started breeding, one ass. manager transfered and the support managers, except one, were promoted to start the cycle again. The last support still thinks he is the shit, but has lost most of his powers since " Daddy Spicer" was caught stealing. ) Most of the "favorites" from that regime either quit or were fired in the past year. Except for that fat, gape-toothed bitch. She went on a leave of absence for two weeks, for "family reasons", and never came back. But in reality was sporting two black eyes and a busted lip given too her by another former Wal-Mart worker. We are still short staffed and over worked, but at least this management team is alright for now. No retaliation. No b.s. coachings. And they will throw freight, unload trucks, make sandwichs, prep chickens, wash dishes and put out bananas or salads if need be. To you people still crying and bitching about that Penn & Teller thing, get a life! In the time you spend finding this site, typing your comments, sending them and then looking for them on this site; you could have went to Wal-Mart and saved some money or some b.s. like that. One more thing.... if the rumor is true about the "guy that works here" and our "assistant manager", your our new god!!!!
The Wage Clamp
i have been with wal-mart for nearly seven years now, and although at store level an hourly associate is lttle more than a bottom feeder, i did all-right knowing what little i knew about being a merchant. Currently i hold the rank of department manager and make almost $10 dollars an hour, starting at $7 dollars an hour in 2001. In may of this year, i learned that "based on the new hiring policy that pays for a new associates experience" some cashiers were starting out at $9 per hour. So what about all the experience i've accumulated from wal-mart, or all of the experience i had before working wal-mart? Or even the credits i've aquired through college, and vocational classes? Does that not count for something? My store manager tells me that is just the way things are, and that home office is working on a way to fix the issue of what is being refered to as "the clamp" on wages. From my point of view, my responibilities as a department manager and the ammount of time that i have put in, not to mention the sacraficies that i have made to my family for the company because of little things like modulars, inventory, christmas, and blitz, according to wal-mart are worth little more than the hourly wages of a cashier. Thanks wal-mart, your propoganda tell's us "respect for the individual" but what you really mean is "respect for the indivual's wallet". "Employee's are the rungs to the ladder of success, don't hesitate to step on them." ST:DS9
My Replacement is a Dog Catcher
I worked for Walmart for five years. I met my fiance there. My aunt has worked at the same Walmart for almost a decade. Store 203 in Brookfield, MO. When I started there, it became pretty obvious, the store could run itself without any mingling by an uneducated store manager that thought they were intelligent. My first manager was alright. He placed me in a position for a promotion after two years of pushing carts, cleaning bathrooms, cashiering, unloading trucks, stocking freight, and finally learning each department as a salesfloor associate. My aunt was way ahead of me as far as knowledge went. She was training people, "going above and beyond" as the managers would say. Then my second manager arrived. He came from Iowa. He was running away from a pending sexual harassment lawsuit at his last store. He came in and quickly "cleaned house." Gone was my three years of hard work. I went from being an assistant under one of the best dept. managers and learning the ropes to pushing carts and cleaning bathrooms... once again. My replacement had not even been there one year. She was young and must have been pretty to the new store manager, [omitted], because they seemed to flirt with each other. They took their breaks together, spending up to half an hour in the smoker's breakroom. He even took her side when she made a 25-year employee break down. This 25-year employee worked her ass off to make the receiving area one of the best in the state. This hotshot young girl came to the back and tried to order the veteran around, knowing that her good bud was the store manager. It worked. However, that lawsuit caught up to him. He suddenly resigned one day due to his back. A week later he was the store manager of the local Save-A-Lot. I've seen him working his ass off over there. He must have took some kind of miracle pill or something. His back seems to be holding up pretty good. That hotshot girl didn't last one year with the new manager. She quit and became a dog catcher. My replacement is a dog catcher. Things got worse once the new store manager arrived. He came from southern MO. He came in bragging about how he was going to turn the store around. It didn't need to be turned around. But he did indeed turn it around. He's been at the store for the last 3 years or so. He fired my fiance after she was grabbed from behind and yelled an obscenity. She was off the clock. But he told her that employees are to represent Walmart, even off the clock. Thats the reason he fired her. That and one week earlier she had told assistant managers that she was being sexualy harrassed. Which she was. I even talked to some of the assistants about it. But she worked almost a full day when he terminated her due to having missed 5 days in the last six months. At that time I had 17 absences in a six-month rolling period, due to being tardy all the time. I just didn't give a shit. I had never even been talked to about my absences. He took a dollar off my wages per hour when it was discoverd that the previous manager, [omitted], had given my job descriptions' workers an extra dollar an hour. It was unloading trucks and putting up the freight off the trucks. I took that job because of the extra dollar an hour. I was trying to finish my associate's degree while working. Once he took that dollar from me, it didn't pan out. It was too expensive. A month after my fiance had been fired, we found out she was pregnant. I quit a month later. I couldn't even pay rent based on the hours I was receiving. I bounced back, and got a job that started out making more than I was making at Walmart after five years. My aunt was happy for me, but depressed for herself. I could tell by the tone of her voice. That was a year ago. She had been overlooked time and time again for promotions. She had just recently gotten off of working overnight dairy for the last four to five years. The dairy manager was forced to take an extended leave of absence due to back surgery. He gave my aunt a vote of confidence in getting his job. She wanted it pretty bad considering she had trained quite a few people who had gotten their shot, but she hadn't gotten hers. The time came and the store manager, [omitted], gave the job to a 24 year old girl who has never worked dairy in her life. He claimed that she was more qualified than my aunt. She didn't think so, I don't think so, and many people that worked there didn't think so. Last Tuesday my aunt quit after almost a decade at that awful store. She was tired of doing the store favors and never getting anything out of them. Nothing. This [omitted] that deemed her unqualified, he should have never even been promoted to store manager. He was the only unqualified person in the meeting between himself and my aunt. He came from a huge store in a big town, and ruined a little store in a little town. My aunt was the 14 person to quit in the last month and a half. The entire meat department quit which had over 100 years experience between 3 people. Not retirements, but walk-outs. One guy had 2 months til he was going to retire. But he couldn't wait that long. And I can't blame him any. Store 203 in Brookfield, MO has gone to shit, and it starts at the top. With [omitted].
